Catholic and inclusive – English Catholic universities

This article explains the institutional background in which higher education operates in England and how it leads to a system with independent universities supported by the state without discrimination. This means that universities of a Catholic and other Christian foundation receive the same state support as other institutions. Partly as a result of this, the student bodies of Catholic universities are very diverse, and special attention needs to be given to how the mission is promoted through the curriculum. The article ends by explaining how this is achieved at St. Mary's University, the country's largest Catholic university.
