Die Mannosphäre: Frauenfeindliche Communitys im Internet

This book analyzes online communities that belong to the so-called "mannosphere," which is known for its misogyny and its proximity to the "alt-right movement," the alternative right in the USA. The focus is on alt-right YouTubers, incels, MGTOWs (Men Going Their Own Way) and NoFap users, as well as the manifestos of the murderers Anders Behring Breivik and Elliot Rodger. Based on the psychoanalytic approaches of Klaus Theweleit, Wilhelm Reich and Elisabeth Young-Bruehl, the author examines which fantasies and images of physicality, gender and sexuality are constructed and exchanged there. These men reveal contradictory thoughts, desires and fantasies about women that are misogynistic but also go beyond that. They are in a state of inhibition or disinhibition and are torn between (un)conscious forces and fantasies that break out and are fended off. They oscillate between self-pity and defensive apathy as well as fantasies of power and hatred of other bodies.
