Developing ecological literacy through Design and Technology

As educators of future primary teachers with a specialism in Design and technology (D&T), we recognise the importance of developing subject knowledge, understanding and practical skills. However we believe that it is also important to develop the emotional aspcets of learning which Bloom (1984) defines as affective domain. In this chapter the focus is on ways in which the affective domain of emerging teachers was developed as they became more ecologically literate in the context of D&T.
